The meeting was initiated by the Murmansk Regional Labour and Employment Committee and attended by government officials, representatives of major manufacturing companies, educational institutions and youth centres.
The conference focused on developing a talent pool in Russia’s Arctic.
Round table participants decided to create a framework for cross-sectoral interaction to develop a regional career guidance system and work together to implement ongoing and upcoming projects.
A positive example of such interaction already exists in the career guidance project Quantorium currently being implemented at Laplandia Art Centre in Murmansk, where the country’s northernmost science and research cluster has been set up. This project is developing an education and training system to foster modern scientific brainpower.
Earlier this year, Laplandia Art Centre and NWPC signed a cooperation agreement allowing NWPC to take part in developing educational programmes for its field and to assign its staff experts as tutors for thematic activities and events for children held in the science and research cluster.
