NWPC mine loader driver Alexander Gorokhovsky won the third prize in Russian Powerlifting Championship in Moscow. For the first time ever, an Apatity resident became the bronze winner of a high-profile powerlifting contest.
Master of sports Alexander Gorokhovsky has already represented Murmansk region and NWPC in various competitions. In Moscow, Alexander contested in a weight class up to 105 kg, and his total result was 962.5 kg, which is an all-time record for Murmansk region.
Today, the athlete is officially among top three strongest Russian powerlifters and included in the Russian Reserve team.
Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of making three attempts at maximal weight on three lifts: squat, bench press and deadlift.
