NWPC Constructs Ventilation and Air-Heating Unit No. 2

12.08.2021
NWPC continues construction of its second main ventilation and air-heating unit at the auxiliary shaft above-ground complex. Designed to supply fresh air to mine workings during the second stage of underground mine construction and operation, the unit’s fresh air feed rate will be 500m3/s.

The main ventilation unit is designed with reverse axial single-stage fans, and the ventilation and air-heating units are mounted as a single installation to supply fresh air within a certain temperature range to the mine workings. This will ensure safety and comfortable conditions for the miners.

As the mine has expanded, it became necessary to provide high volumes of airflow to ventilate the lower horizons. To accomplish this, NWPC commissioned its first main ventilation and air-heating unit, with a fresh air feed rate of about 300m3/s, in the spring of 2018.

The second main ventilation and air-heating unit is planned for launch once the breakthrough to the underground mine is complete at the -100 horizon. Together, the two units will have enough capacity to provide the fresh air required for mine operations.
